Food Preserving - Summer Flavors: Pickling Perfect

Pickles are an easy and healthy way to preserve the harvest and add some flair to your meals. Learn to make two kinds of pickles: live, lacto-fermented vegetables/fruits and vinegar pickles. We will be water bath canning the vinegar pickles. This introductory#8208;level class is designed for people who have no pickling experience. It is ideal for people who would like to make use of fruit/vegetables growing in their yards and/or who would like to add healthy homemade pickles to their diets.

As a scientist turned artist and science writer and an alumna of both the Hawai'i Master Gardener and Hawai'i Master Food Preserver programs, Raven Hanna has a keen interest in sharing her love of food with others. Hanna enjoys dreaming up and creating unconventional edible concoctions using our island's distinctive produce. Her combinations of fruits, veggies, spices, and herbs will bring a smile to your taste buds and, hopefully, inspire you to create your own.
