I think this Maui study is what he is talking about. There hasn't been much research done on the impact.

Seven fisherman were recently rescued off the Big Island's coast when their boat started to take on water and sink. My guess is that most if not all of the fisherman that needed rescued were not american or residents from the Big Island. I also wonder if the boat that was capsized was in good shape for Hawaiian waters, legal, towed in or allowed to sink and rust?

When Hawaii's coral reefs are dying at a faster rate than ever and many are wanting to blame over fishing of Hawaiian waters for this. Maybe some kind of fine or bill should go to this boats captain to help support the rising costs associated with the states declining fish, Hawaiian reefs and also the coast guard?
