I was wondering about what people here on Hawaii Island think about the voting by mail idea as their have been many problems regarding voting. There have been many issues in past regarding voting , such as many ballots discovered in a box unaccounted for in a past election, although this was maybe on Maui.
Anyway what do you think?

In-person voting: you can't be sure the machine scanned your ballot correctly.
Mail-in voting: you don't even get to watch the machine.

I think it's almost impossible to create a "perfect" voting system, but electronically counted paper ballots are pretty good, and electronically voted with paper backup is pretty good too. Both allow for audits.
It would be reassuring to me to be able to "log in" and see that my vote was counted as intended, but I don't think the law allows that, perhaps out of concerns about coercion or vote selling?
