March 9, 4:30 pm Harbors and Landings of the Ka'#363; District
In the times before highways and motor vehicles, harbors and landing places were important links between different districts, other islands and foreign lands. They were the means of getting people and things that came by sea safely ashore as well as sending off people and products of the land by sea to other places. Kapena Kiko Johnston-Kitazawa will take you on a journey by story and pictures along the coast of Ka'#363;. He will discuss the geological, wind and sea, and social/historical factors that make landings come and go and share some events that occurred at these unique places.
