Hawaiian Homelands Casino
#21
What would the theme of the casino be? In Vegas I saw an Egypt/pyramid theme, a Middle Ages/Excalibur theme, Ancient Rome/ Caesar theme, well I could go on but you get the idea, every property had a "theme".

I'm guessing probably not an astronomy theme?

Too bad they didn't do the casinos before the rail project. In Vegas the casinos paid for the rail.

City of Refuge?  The gambling machines, card games etc, chase after your money.  Then when you’re out of funds you’re granted asylum.  Even if you lose you can live and go home, and hopefully return next payday so they can clean you out again.

Doesn’t all the DHHL casino money go toward Native Hawaiian agencies?

The "bar" thing brings up a legit question...

A big draw to Nevada casinos is one can drink alcohol for free so long as they are playing.

I've not seen this at any casino outside Nevada.   In Florida, I think they provide free soft drinks but one has to leave the casino floor and head to a separate bar to purchase overpriced adult beverages.  I wondered why anybody would want to go there.  In another state (location escapes me, maybe it was Minnesota) the entire casino was alcohol free.  In the latter I got chased out by the thick cloud of cigarette smoke.

11©Applicability of Hawaii law. The integrated resort with the gaming license must comply with applicable laws of the State of Hawaii and waives the right to apply regulations of a place other than Hawaii which exempt the licensee from performing obligations or acts that must be performed or are imposed.

Free drinks or any free gift to entice purchase of alcohol is illegal in Hawaii if I'm not mistaken.

Doesn't Hawaii law preclude them from gambling then?

Hmm.

The gambling isn't in the resort, it's with the whole permit-license-fee-inspection circus. Opening bid $1M.
