Coming before the county council this week is resolution 91-23. This was posted by Ashley Kierkiewicz:
"The Limtiaco Consulting Group was contracted by DLNR-DOBOR in 2020 to prepare an EA (Environmental Assessment) for a proposed project that restores ocean access and returns the Pohoiki Boat Ramp to productive use. The recommendation is to dredge all the accumulated volcanic debris and restore Pohoiki Bay to its pre-eruption shape and depth as much as possible. This project is anticipated to cost $40MM.

Itʻs only a resolution but it doesnʻt hurt.

Pohoiki Boat Ramp is critical to Puna’s recovery and resilience as well as social, cultural, and economic well-being. Please support our Resolution calling for State and Federal partners to prioritize funding for this project in their upcoming budgets.
The Council will hear this measure on Wednesday, April 5." Email your support to counciltestimony@hawaiicounty.gov
