Propane??
#11
Well, this is an island. We have very limited resources, limited shipping and only one refinery which produces the gasoline supply as well as the propane supply. What is the Governer's office supposed to be able to do? They can't run a refinery. They can't legislate more production from the one refinery we do have. Even if they did pass legislation which made it illegal for the refinery to break down, I don't suppose it would make much difference. There isn't much anyone can do - whether they are a governer's office or just a regular person - other than "just deal with it". Seems like good (if somewhat rude) advice.

What would a mainland governer's office do about it? About all they could do (if they did anything) would be to bring in propane supplies from a neighboring area, but we don't have any neighboring areas. With the shipping time to get it here, the shortage will be over before outside propane supplies could reach here. When you ask them to "do something" about a problem they can't do anything about, of course they are going to be a bit grumpy since you are making them admit they can't do anything. The government officials here are all just people like us. Heck, they ARE us. How do we react in the same situations?

A hui hou,
Cathy
