This article, titled Bad news for island apiarists, is in today's Tribune-Herald:

I noticed some comments following the Pahoa Council District 5 forum which appeared to criticize Kale Gumapac's stance on invasive species.
Invasive species is not a laughing matter. Kale takes this seriously as we all should.
The Superferry may be a lot of different things to a lot of different people but it is not difficult to see that it represents a new threat, on several levels, to life as we know it on the Big Island. Kale understands this.
I'm sure the SF people will be as sincere as they can afford to be about inspecting vehicles transiting between islands. Oahu doesn't need coqui frogs and we don't need any number of new pests from Honolulu harbor.
Think about this issue and Kale's position on it. He is willing to speak out on environmental issues knowing he will be slammed for it.
Kale gets my vote.
