Dirty Jobs (Discovery Channel) has an episode in which Mike goes to a company in California that makes concrete countertops and Japanese style ufuros. It is actually on right now (2/1/10). I believe they also offer the episodes on-line for viewing.

Fine Homebuilding (Aug/Sep 1999:62-69) had an article on one person's countertop project with a lot of pictures and also refers to a previous article (FHB #90:86-89). It may be available on line. I remember a reference to a book on this subject, but cannot remember anything more about the book.
