Now that we've hashed through Dish vs Oceanic Tine Warner, I'm wondering if anyone has had experience with both Dish and DirecTV? Is one better than the other? We have DirecTV and find it merely acceptable - it's expensive, and the vast majority of its programming is infomercials and Pay per View. Also, it may be my imagination, but it appears some local stations are not delivered in high def. Any comments on the merits or shortcomings of either would be welcome.

Dish here. The local stations each have 2 channels - one non-HD and one HD.

We are satisfied Dish customers. Customer service has been good for us on the few occasions we have had problems with SmartCards or needed a new box. The "rainout" effect is no worse than DirecTV from what I hear, and can supposedly be lessened by getting a bigger dish. YMMV.
Cheers,
Jerry

I've had both down in HPP and now have DirectTV - Dish kept having problems if a cloud passed by.
So far - DirectTV is fine - but I hate their remote.
