New view of the leeward side from Mauna Kea
#1
This camera has only just become operational but shows night-time views of the west side of the island from the Kecks on Mauna Kea. I only saw the images for the first time tonight, it's quite interesting.

From right to left, the lights are from Waimea then Kawaihae. I'm a little less certain about the others, but think they are the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and then Puako.

At first I thought the glow on the horizon to the right was zodiacal light from the setting sun, but thinks it's too far north for that, and is more likely the lights from Honolulu/Waikiki.

Current images and archive movies are available via:

and a live view can also be seen via the MKWC webcam page:

PS. I edited the subject from "west coast" to leeward as some might have thought the mainland west coast was involved!
