No vehicle registrations for you

I renewed mine online the same day I got the notice in the mail. December 22 last year. It's now Feb 15. I think something more than a backlog happened.

Well I dragged myself down to the line and stood in it and got my tags. The lady didn't have any explanation as to why I never received them. She said if they were returned in the mail there would have been a note in the system. While its possible they were "lost in the mail" it's highly unlikely that BOTH of them would have been lost (they get mailed separately). But, the registrations had been renewed, I just never got any confirmation of it.

And yes, they made me a pay a fee to get "replacement" tags. I asked why I had to pay "replacement" fees because "replacement" infers that there was an original to begin with, which I never received. I knew I was wasting my time but I had to ask. The fee was 50 cents per tag so I'm out another dollar, not worth my time to "escalate" the issue to management (and in the end, be out the dollar either way, her attitude was friendly but I had the feeling she believes I received the tags but lost them, or "loaned" them to a buddy, etc, we had to fill out forms documenting the disposition of the "original" tags).

I did ask if this happens frequently, and she said it happens "a handful of times" each year.
