Very true on the mainland. People of color targeted by the cops. But in Hawaii?
This relates to my post a few days back about supposed "disparate" treatment of native Hawaiians and part-native Hawaiians. The claim is in this prison reform plan, p. 23. If people of Hawaiian blood find themselves in prison more, it is a problem of their own making. There's been no documentation of law enforcement racism or disparate treatment against any people of color in Hawaii. If anything, at least several decades back in more rural parts of Hawaii, cops were sometimes more likely to give white people citations--who were often perceived by locals as loud mouth know-it-alls. Back on topic, we probably won't have a problem of Hawaii's police going on a ticket-writing spree for marijuana offenders. Fortunately, Hawaii's police don't have the revenue generation strategy that is common on many parts of the mainland.

Homeless people sleep on the streets because their jobs were outsourced to a cheaper country. It's a problem of their own making, if they really wanted to work they would have followed those jobs to Bangladesh.

Hawaii has the nation's lowest unemployment rate at 2.1%.
https://www.staradvertiser.com/2018/04/0...-problems/ Some people don't want to work. It was pretty simple 200 years ago in most places. Don't work? Don't eat. Reluctance to work didn't last long at all. Like maybe 2 days.

Some people don't want to work.
Some employers won’t hire some people, because they are not capable of working. If you were an employer, you would quickly understand why it’s not advisable to hire the first warm body with a pulse who walks through the door. I hired a yard worker a few years ago. After an hour I came out to see how he was doing. He had completed roughly one or two square yards. My lot is 44,000 sq feet. You do the math.

they are not capable of working
...but is it because of the marijuana? Because that's what this week's show is about!

... ...but is it because of the marijuana? Good point kalakoa. Here is how I see the advantages of the decriminalization bill headed to the Hawaii State Senate: Present Laws - Marijuana smoker is arrested and given free food and lodging in jail. Proposed Law - Marijuana smoker would have to pay a fine. No free lunch (dinner & breakfast). The proposed law will encourage a work ethic in marijuana smokers.
