Hawaii is receiving $1.25 billion from the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act of which $387.2 million goes directly to the City and County of Honolulu, the only local government with a population higher than 500,000. The $862.8 million remainder will be sent to the state, which has discretion on how to distribute it.
