Do they have to be licensed?

Here is the web link for all the different contractors that need to be licensed in Hawaii. It also lists the requirements for the licensing.

Thanks John! Really useful to see that list.

On a related note, I spoke to the DCCA today and was told the following:

If a person is working under the handyman exception, on a job of up to $1000 including materials BOUGHT BY THE HANDYMAN, then they are not required to have a license if the job itself does not require a permit.

So an electrical job, generally requiring a permit, requires a license no matter the dollar amount. Brush clearing, not involving a structure, does not require a permit and a license is only needed if the job is over $1000.

If anyone wants to verify that I understood it right, please do ...
