How To Build A House the HfH Affordable
#1
This subject was posted by Adjit in another string and he suggested a great reference book to help those of us going owner-builder. Here is the link to that book;

We purchased this book recently and have been pouring over it whenever the time permits.

It is well organized, simply written, the illustrations are top rate. This book also expands on the relationships you will build over the time of your project. From your neighbors, the local building department, to the crews you might need.

From language to definitions, yes we get to learn a new language, to purchasing the site, designing a structure, scheduling, materials, tools, site prep, it is simply and completely laid out and very encouraging and upbeat! There are realistic suggestions and problem solving included! Time frame schedules are great.

Perhaps when we complete our projects, we too would be willing to work with HfH on our island to help others whose budgets are also tight. Our Moderator Rob has in the past worked for this organization and perhaps one day we too could volunteer our newly honed muscles! That would be aloha in my opinion.

To all a Merry Christmas, Happy Kwanzaa, Feliza Natividad, Happy Hanukkah and Happy Happy which ever celebration of the season and the New Year your family enjoys from our home to yours! Gene and Mella L

This is another reference for the state regulations brochure for owner builders.

Sorry forgot to include this one. Many others have recommended it to me also.
