Doughboy vs. Metal catchment containers
#1
I was thinking about replacing my catchment container. I currently have a Doughboy pool which has been in place since I purchased my home.

I was told by someone that Doughboy pools hold up better than the riveted metal style because Doughboys are painted on the inside and that the riveted metal style tend to rust from the inside out. Can anyone verify or refute this from experience.

Also how do the 2 containers compare when it comes to pricing?

Any and all comments or feedback would be appreciated.

TIA,
Andrew

I don't have personal experience with a tank rusting. My current catchment (metal) was brand new when I bought the house 2 years ago. No signs of problems yet though.

However, to summarize what the UHH Catchment Book says about tank types:

Doughboy Pro
------------
Cheaper
Easier to install

Doughboy Con
------------
Linings often not food grade
Linings often droop when water is low and they may shrink (fall into the water) as they dry out.

Metal Tank Pro
--------------
Usually narrower and taller making them easier to cover
More durable
Liners are usually food-grade

Metal Tank Con
--------------
More expensive
Harder to assemble

That catchment book is the best thing EVER!
