My Eureka lemon tree is losing green leaves. I bought it at Rosettes. I asked them if they had any problems with that and they said no. The same thing is happening to my neighbors tree. I have also seen this problem with other lemon trees in HPP. It is only on my Eureka lemon tree. I have several diffent types of citrus trees and they all look good. Does anyone know what to do about this. Other than losing green leaves it looks healthy. It has one lemon on it and new growth. (I have only had it since August) It has been loosing at least three green leaves a day. At this rate it won't be long until it won't be able to recover. I have checked several website about this and I can only find out information if the leaves are yellow. Which is not my problem. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what I can do? The leaves apear to be weak at the stem. If you brush them a few will fall off. Is this a vitamin problem?

Jade, it's not a lack of vitamins, this problem is caused by one you probably cannot see. When citrus trees begin to drop green leaves the culprit is almost always found in the root zone. Either rot or a root pathogen is the cause. Without actually seeing it I can't go much further. Lemons do very well in large pots which may be an option for you. The sad thing is that your tree is probably already beyond saving. For the next one, make sure you have a very well drained hole you plant it in, and make sure the soil is free of pathogens.

Thanks Bryce. I think you are right about that. I think it is root rot. We have well drained soil here. It just rains everyday. I think it is too much watering for the tree. Maybe I'll try to dig it up and put it in a container. I will have more control that way.
