IronWood Needles?

Both polyethylene glycol and ethylene glycol are excellent wood preservatives, because they are hydrophilic they will penetrate in to wood as the moisture draws it in.
polyethylene glycol is sold as a safe alternative to ethylene glycol.
Sierra is one brand you can buy at the auto part store.

If you are going to use regular antifreeze ( ethylene Glycol ) make sure your kids & pets can get to it as it will kill them and it taste sweet.
spray it on with a pump up sprayer and stack, spray each layer as you stack. Cover it with plastic and let it soak for a week.

You can mix 50/50 with water and heat it up and dissolve in copper sulphate, boric acid and Borax to make a superlative preservative and after it drys will take paint.

The best wood preservative is creosote.

We used to set cattle feeder legs in a 5# coffee can and fill it with pentathol (sic).

1000s of years from now archeologists with find those legs.

Also. never throw away your used motor oil, it is great for preserving things and keeping ground dwelling termites from attacking.

The epa frowns on the use, but they are the same idiots that banned DDT which is safe and edible if you are not an insect.

The oil is eventually remediated by natural bacteria just like all oil spills.
