Hawaii's 1st AgriTourism Symposium in Hilo
#1
On October 15th, 2016, Hilo will host the 1st International AgriTourism Symposium for Hawaii.

The Hawai’i AgriTourism Association (HATA)... is a membership based non-profit dedicated to providing education and economic opportunities to members that include teaching a farmer, rancher, nursery owner, students and other agriculturalists who are interested and passionate about agritourism —- on “how to” diversify your farm, “how to” market your farm, developing farm tours, creating key (peer to peer & Biz2biz) collaborations within your community and “how to” produce value-added products.

It could be one way to create additional private sector businesses and jobs here in East Hawaii. Registration is available for both attendees and vendors:

- Be pleasant to inefficient workers; give them undeserved promotions. - Work slowly. - Refer all matters to committees for "further study and consideration. - Hold conferences. - Make travel as inconvenient as possible. - Haggle over precise wordings of communications. - Advocate “caution.” Be “reasonable” and avoid haste. (Excerpts from the WWII OSS Simple Sabotage Manual)

Check the County regulations first -- most of those "businesses and jobs" will go to lawyers and planning consultants...

lawyers and planning consultants...

Hey, given the dark economic times in our neighborhood on planet earth, a job's a job. Maybe the lawyer will hire a paralegal. Maybe the planning consultant will decide to go big and organize the 1st International Big Island AgriTourism Festival with bands, food booths, and clowns - - before attendees are turned loose with maps directing them to the island's flower nurseries, ranches, and coffee farms.

It could happen.
