I doubt that a reduction in STVR's has caused hotel prices to go up.

The majority of STVR's are on the Kona side and were permitted because they were mostly in resort zones.

The ones that are gone were on AG zoned land .

Could be anything, or nothing. Rental car company said $200/day was the new "making up for lost time" rate. Tourists will just pay it, so who cares if residents are inconvenienced?

If I have to stay on the kona side, there are beautiful condos in Waikaloa that go for $250/night. I'd rather have more space and privacy. Restaurants right near by. Manago Hotel is still the best deal but pretty far south.

Only place affordable on that side of the Island is the Manago Hotel in Captain Cook.
