Ask a (stupid?) question...
#1
If this has been revealed elsewhere, please let me know and I'll dump this thread.

All the new road construction going on down at 4 Corners (and near Lava Tree) seems to be coming along. But now I have a mystery. Mauka just a skosche of 4 Corners, a new road with a yellow gate was put in a couple years ago and my understanding was that was Smiley Burrows' property (that used to be Green Lake) that she got tired of waiting for the county to put in and so had the road put in herself.

Now there's a guard shack there, more fencing, lots of vehicles, and the initials of some company I can't quite make out. HGEOC? HGCOE? Does anyone have any idea what is going on there?

Inquiring minds...

I had read that the guard shack and signage was for a film shoot but I canʻt verify that.
Certainty will be the death of us.

I had heard about a film shoot, too, but thought that was down by Uncle Robert's...?

So maybe, or not?

Thanks for offering up info!

The more ya know, ya know? ;-D

The filming is in several Puna locations.

From "Reel News Hawaii" May 22nd

Wrap Day is officially here!! Hard to believe 12 weeks has gone by since "Untamed: Season 2" began filming, time flies when you're having fun. This past week was spent at Volcanoes National Park, in lava tubes at Kauhi Cavern and on steaming volcanic landscapes in Kapoho Crater. Thanks Netflix for bringing us two amazing shows and filming them entirely in Hawaii. Congrats cast and crew, have an awesome last day!
This is the last of the big mainstream productions. This summer it looks like we'll have 2 shows filming around the island (which are currently casting). One is an unnamed "Teen Drama" series following the lives of fictional high school students on Oahu. Filming July 20th - September 30th.
The other is a locally produced Feature Film called "The Tourist Curse" - about a group of reality show contestants who are sent to a mysterious location and tasked with finding a missing medallion, what begins as a tropical treasure hunt becomes a cross-island misadventure. Screenplay by Seana Kofoed (wife of NCIS-HI actor Jason Antoon) Produced by Seana Kofoed, Gerard Elmore and Annie Cusick Wood. Filming possibly June 24 - July 17th, 2026

"Reel News Hawaii"...I had no idea there was such a thing, but looks like Kalianna and LDude solved my mystery.

Just so weird to see a fancy "guard shack", like what PGV has, at a film shoot. That there is some serious security, eh? Need lotta those all over the area, seems like? (ha. ha.)

Thanks to you both for indulging my curiosity and helping me "ferret out" an answer. (I couldn't help it, really!)
