Just remember that whatever type of grass you plant will have to be maintained (or not) year round. We visited some friends on the mainland who had this fantastic flower garden, but she was out there taking care of it for hours each day. Fortunately (for her, anyway) their summer only lasted three months. Sheesh! Can you imagine that level of maintenance all year?

There are a lot of different ground covers that don't need to be mowed at all and you can (depending on your subdivision and covenants) get "mowing" help from cows, sheep and horses.
