Where exactly is the Edith Kanakaole Stadium? I'm still feeling my way around...
Any suggestions on a good place to park this Saturday for the parade??

The Edith Kanakaole Stadium is about 2 blocks from Ken's Pancake house. We went to an Orchid Society Convention there last September.
Thank you nnickle for the link, perhaps we should put it on site you haunt thread! I tuned in and it was magical mystical and mesmerizing. Thank you so much. Now I understand why people love this festival so much and my husband told me the history of the Merrie Monarch and that made it even more enticing to me. Aloha All, Mella

The free evening hula show at the Edith Kanakaole stadium (located behind HPM which is between the airport and Ken's House of Pancakes) starts around 5:00 or 5:30 p.m. tonight. There is a three day craft fair at the Ah Fook Civic Auditorium (the inner side of the block from the Edith Kanakaole stadium). The craft fair runs during the daytime. Most of this stuff is listed in the newspaper, the Sunday edition had a big calendar section with all the times listed.
They have the videos and all sorts of hula books and Hawaiiana books at Basically Books along Hilo Bayfront.
I've heard you can sometimes get a ticket at the door from someone who's friend wasn't able to make it to the show, but you'd have to drive to Hilo and not know if you could get in or not. The ticketed hula events start around 5:00 and last for four to five hours. We are taking seat cushions and light lap robes just in case we end up in a windy spot.

Hi Cathy,
We are gonna do our best to make it to this tonight.
I have a meeting at 2 in Hilo so we will check out craft fair then show.
I'll be wearing a black quiksilver tshirt, long hair, wife and baby boy in tow, and probably a camera or camera bag hanging on my neck.
Say aloha if you see us.
Tony
Well we didnt make it. The line was massive.

That line was unreal! Glad we went down early! Half way thru the show, there were people still outside, waiting to get in. The fire marshall wouldn't let them come inside as there weren't enough seats!
Next year, I'm going early, bringing my camera, some binoculars, and one of those cushions I saw with the back on it! I must be getting old! My okole was soooo sore!
