My take on this recent news is that the Wheelabrator folks undervalued there incinerator to evade taxes!
A judge ruled in favor of the city of Claremont this week in a tax dispute involving the former New Hampshire Vermont Solid Waste Project.
Until it was dissolved last year, the project included a dozen communities that sent their trash to the Wheelabrator incinerator in Claremont. Project officials sued the city after getting its 2004 tax bill, arguing that the Wheelabrator property was worth $5.6 million, not the $13.1 million the city claimed.
But a superior court judge ruled that the property actually was worth more than $19 million and that the city doesn't owe the project anything.
