The College of Continuing Education and Community Service (CCECS) at the University of Hawai’i at Hilo will offer two grant writing courses this month in East Hawai’i.

Federal Grant Writing Training: How to Apply for Federal Resources
Whether they are for project grants, fellowships, conference travel, visiting scholars, or publications, all funding opportunities have one basic purpose: To give money away to the best applicants. Your job is to convince the granting body that you are the best person and project investment for their funds.

Let instructor Terrilani Chong guide you in developing a research agenda, identifying and analyzing funding opportunities, understanding funding agencies, creating a funding plan, and recruiting mentors and collaborators.

The class will be held on Friday, June 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the UH Hilo Library, HITS Lab. Tuition is $75.

Basic Grant Writing Workshop
The Basic Grant Writing course this month in East Hawai’i will be held on Saturday, June 27 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the UH Hilo campus, UCB Room 118.

Participants will be taught how to write a compelling statement of need, and learn what funders are looking for in grant proposals. Instructor Jeani Navarro has over 30 years of grant writing experience and has helped various community organizations secure needed funding.

Tuition is $75. Employment and Training Funds (ETF) are available. Deadline to apply for ETF is Friday, June 12th. Contact the Department of Labor and Industrial Relations at 981-2860.
