Just checking to see if any other OL residents have be victimized by thieves recently.
This is the third time in a couple of months for us.

Most recently plywood was removed from a building and carried off.

Power tools would have been necessary to take the plywood down.

I also just lost a brand new tent canopy that was inside my building.

Location is around 38th and Auli'i.

Thanks, Susan

We're in Shores, & somebody climbed a pile of gravel & cut a nice big of almost ready bananas out of our yard, & last Tues. night, somebody stole the water meter covers off our neighbor's & our meter boxes. What in the world do they want with those things? The bananas...yes, but the water meter lids???

When we couldn't keep an eye on our property we used one of these:

http://oldboysoutdoors.com/

We used the option with the solar panel and AT&T Go-Phone sim card. Emailed us photos of our property for 6 months until we moved here. The motion-detection option is a little harder to setup without draining the battery sending too many pictures but it can be done.

Best option is really a big huge angry looking dog that barks at strangers and somebody to respond when the dog barks.

These doosh bags are in every subdivision. It's important to be proactive. When I see people that appear to be casing the street I go out and confront them with my politeness. When our dog goes apesh!t in the middle of the night I turn on the flood lights and see if anybody out there needs help.

Thanks Terracore. Looking at it now. Hubby has AT&T phone. Neighbors across makai are going to place one of their dogs on the property at night. We have super small Maltese with really big mouths. Should help when we get there finally.

Rippers will hit unoccupied properties especially if no one can see.
Best thing to do is talk to your neighbors and set up a buddy watch system.
One Thing I can always be sure of is that things will never go as expected.

Another idea that has worked really well for us is a dummy camera along with a sign that reads "Smile you're on camera". We use several dummy cameras alongside the signs all over our property. Cameras look pretty real. They didn't work for us until we coupled them with the signs.

Cameras are 2/$12 at Amazon here: http://www.amazon.com/Security-Outdoor-W...005EP3EH2/

I don't use the flashing light feature because in my experience real cameras don't have a flashing red light.

Here is the sign I use: http://www.amazon.com/Smile-Youre-Camera...002602N34/

Good luck!
