Former Big Island Mayor Charged With Ethics Violations Over TMT Protest"
"
The Hawaii County Board of Ethics on Wednesday charged former Mayor Harry Kim over ethics violations for failing to enforce state laws during the 2019 protests against the Thirty Meter Telescope, but Kim was unlikely to face any consequences since he already has left office."

Waiting for Kim to leave office before charging him was about as effective as Kim waiting for protestors to pack up and leave Mauna Kea Access Road on their own. Non-professional and unprofessional courtesies all around.

Consider ourselves lucky that we even got a "symbolic" judgement. Stop acting surprised.

Surprised? The only surprise is that they are bothering to look into it at all, and by doing so now, they only insult those of us who foolishly expected the law to be enforced. Remember, we live in Animal Farm Hawaii where "all animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others."

On other news about violations that may relate to the Mauna Kea protests:
An independent audit of the Hawaiian Affairs office last month identified as much as $7.8 million in potentially fraudulent, wasteful or abusive spending.
OHA provided substantial monetary support for the protestors at the Mauna Kea Access Road. The state of Hawaii wanted to audit OHA over expenditures, but OHA won’t comply:
The Hawaii state auditor suspended an audit of limited liability companies owned by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs after the board of trustees denied full access to the minutes of its meetings.

So is it possible the illegal camp and Access Road blockade was funded by unlawful payments from OHA? They’re legally required to allow an audit, but they refuse. $7.8 million covers a lot of territory. What exactly are they hiding?

"Legally required" ... how quaint.
