Got Lava - You’re Rich
#1
A study has discovered GOLD! THERE’S GOLD IN THEM THAR HILLS! in lava that is, including lava in Hawaii.  Well, precious metals but gold could be in the lava too.  Stake your claim Punatics:

Researchers from Göttingen found tiny traces of the precious metal Ruthenium with an anomalous isotopic composition in lavas from Hawaii. The new findings prove that the Earth’s core is leaking metallic material, including gold and other precious metals.

And I’ll include the hyperventilating version which as one commentator noted, only failed to include a mention of Diamond Head:

PGV has stated numerous times that during "clean outs" they have the materials analyzed and have found trace amounts of gold and other precious metals but it isn't worth trying to mine for it.

One of the top guys over there is a friend and he laughed when we discussed it once because as he said, "if the geothermal haters really think (and they do) that PGV is running all this equipment and paying all these employees to get less than $20 worth of gold every few months, they are delusional. The real gold is the electricity."

Thar's gold in them thar' Lava. Just what I feared, Big Island could be turned into West Virginia, as a mining state. No limit to what Diddy Trump will do to destroy this "pristine" state. Paved paradise, dig up a mining tunnel. What can the state do to preserve the rights of its citizens? Google AI sez:

Quote:The Supreme Court's anti-commandeering doctrine limits federal authority to compel states to enforce federal laws or programs. However, the federal government does have authority over mining on federal lands, and it can regulate mining activities on those lands, including those related to strategic resources.

Notwithstanding the fed laws on mining, but Hawaii (state) retains all mineral rights across all of the islands, which is why PGV actually has to pay the state for the steam it removes from the ground, even though they technically put it right back after it cools down.
