USPS - lack of service
#1
I hope someone will tell me where to post this topic, as there's much to discuss. Is it politics?

This is a good place to post it.

FoPF (Friends of Puna's Future) has been interested in the USPS performance here for a while and are contemplating potential legal action.

As we build membership and budget more things become possible.....
Assume the best and ask questions.

Rob, you may want to talk to my wife, 24 years of dealing with the USPS. She got to know some of the people at the national level, but she also knows how things work there.

It’s my understanding the our letters carriers [at least in Hawaiian Beaches] are private contractors and are not government employees. The person that delivers our mail dose a pretty good job but I have heard some ugly stories about other areas. Especially in those areas that have the “box” delivered mail.

Legal action seems appropriate.
I learned a/ 8 years ago that FedEx was contracted to deliver mail they couldn't keep up with.
I'm less than 5 miles from the Pahoa post office and mostly paved roads. It's rediculous. What happend to delivery regardless of rain, sleet and snow?
The schools in Kentucky were closed if weather was bad, but only one emergency state (a severe ice storm that disabled electricity) in more than 40 years is all I ever witnessed a postal closing. That was just a few days, as the postal service was back in order before the electricity was!

Mahalo for a rant allowance here,

Will HI State/County Revenue send me tax bills by email? How about Federal IRS?

Seems they have to find some notification way for me to pay the taxes that are suppose to help pay for government postal services.

This is true crazy politics!
