I have learned that Star Newland has passed away at the age of 65. I have known Star for a number of years. She once went by the first name of Paradise. She was a strong woman of heartfelt purpose who impressed me with her overall sense of self and the world.
I am sorry she is gone from our community. I respected her plenty and all of her pursuits were of good intent. Star was not a person you liked. She was a person you loved. Her energy was transparent.
There will be a celebration of her life from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2013 at Carlsmith Beach Park.
If you did not know her that is your loss. May she rest in peace and may God bless her soul.
