The other lesson is that you can do reasonably well as landlords since you have a large pool of prospective tenants to choose from. We had 30-40 responders each time we have advertised. I honestly wish I could buy more places to rent out because so many of them were really nice people who I would be happy to rent to and very much in need of a place. If I ever got rich, I think I'd use a fair bit of the proceeds to set up affordable low income housing.
