Introduce yourself
It's actually all good. Our mainland house is very nice, we have great friends and neighbors that will be hard to leave, etc.

We are very fortunate that we have options in the direction we want to go, and consider our move to TBI an upgrade that will just have to wait a bit.

We are considering the statue of Joseph thing, but since the kit is $20, I think we're gonna kill a chicken first.

Hello-
I'm Rick and my wife is Jenny. I lived on Oahu for about 12 years, moved because of personal reasons. My wife was born and raised there.
We have been living in Calif for about 18 years now, always thinking of moving back. I have a sister-in-law that lives in Hilo and we were there visiting when we decided that the BI is the place we want to be.
We'll both be retiring soon, I might work another year or two if I get a promotion I've been expecting-my wife told me she's ready to retire any time. Smile She's a nurse, I'm a training officer at the sheriff's dept patrol division.
We will be back on the island in Nov to scout for property-be staying in a house in HPP, down on the beach. We have discussed buying a house or just land and build.
This forum has been very helpful and you all have so much knowledge about things we want to learn-thank you.

Welcome to Rick and Jenny, sounds like you two have had very busy lives and well earned your retirement! Hope you find what you are looking for on your November visit. Really love your sign-off, never seen that one before! Take care and Aloha, Mella

Aloha,

I realized I have been a "lurker" for too long. Thanks for all the information and aloha, this is a great website. My husband Steve and I live in Seattle, where I grew up, but are hoping to make the move next March. We are having a difficult time getting rid of all of our crazy clutter, for example hundres of records...yes records. I am an architect and Steve is a metal fabricator. We will be living in our 1953 airstream trailer, at least at first. We bought when things were high so have a small lot in Black Sands, which we think is pretty cool, and will allow us to live in the trailer. We can't wait but have a few loose ends to tie up and some bills to pay.

Can't wait to meet you all.

Mahalo.

Aloha Aubrey! Good to hear from another "neighbor to be!" We'll be on Island next month...if all goes well with escrow.

We started getting out from under all our clutter last October. We sold, gave away and donated stuff...too much stuff LOL!!

Our goal with our home in Hawaii is to enjoy the island and not fill our little house with too much stuff! Really puts an interesting perspective on what's important when you have to let go of so many things you spent years accumulating and rarely using.

I'm Val from Denver. I'm not good at writing and express my thoughts but would like to introduce myself to this friendly group.
I came to the Big Island on vacation with my son during X'Mas in 2003 for three weeks and didn't want to leave. I decided then that I want to retire on BI when I turn 60. The long agony of waiting is finally over, I'm retired this year and will be here in November looking for affordable house to buy. The areas I'm interested are HPP and Hawaiian Beaches/Shores Subdivisions. I'm looking for an existing house that we can move in right away. I welcome any comments or suggestions.

I'm renting a condo in Hilo for three months and hope to find a house before the lease is up. I have two grown kids, a daughter and a sone who are very excited about my plan. My husband, unfortunately, does not share my dream at this time. He's not in good health and wants to live close the children. So we will continue to keep our house in Denver. He'll stay with our dog here while I'm on the island househunting.I just found this website last week and learn a lot from this forum. You all are great.

Hidehoe Val from Denver and welcome to the Red Green Show, not that is welcome to the virtual neighborhood of the Punatics, lunatics crazy about Puna. Bring your pioneer spirit and you'll have a good time here! Ask what you want and tell what you know, experience is the best teacher no? Good luck hunting for your new home! The search engine is at the top of the page if you have a specific subject you are looking into, but we don't bite so ask what you will.
