Global Fishing Watch

Global Fishing Watch is a website that displays commercial fishing activity around the world. Zoom in to Hawaii, wait a moment, and watch the map populate with the location of fishing vessels. I had no idea most of the fishing in Hawaii takes place about 100-200 miles southeast of the Big Island:

Yipes! This is why I stopped eating seafood. The oceans are getting strip mined and I don't want to be part of it.
Assume the best and ask questions.

The Monterey Bay Aquarium publishes lists of seafood that's fine to eat (i.e., sustainable) and those that aren't and they update these lists regularly. They also produce them for specific areas, so if you don't want to give up seafood for good, this may be helpful:
