East Hawaii Businesses Closed Due To COVID
#1
County Council member Matt Kanealii Kleinfelder has a web site with COVID business closures.  Unfortunately Luquin’s in Pahoa closed yesterday:

I find it interesting and respectable that Kleinfelder has chosen to share important information about specific Covid locations that the official county bulletins and media have not included in their reports. Other closed businesses besides Luquin's include the Maebo Noodle Factory and Kadota's Drive-In and Liquor Store. Frau Chunkster is now officially worried about her supply of One-Ton Chips.

Sadly, reading that site also informed me of the third death from the veterans' home in Hilo.

Great now there's gonna be a rush on the remaining One-Ton chips!

Kum Yo's closed temporarily, but just because of the rising numbers in the community.

Leung's is closed, but I always thought their soup tasted like dishwater so...

I'm most upset about Pizza Hawaii.

Is the Black Rock still open?

It’s funny that you don’t hear about anybody at Walmart testing positive

Seeb, one of the Walmarts on Oahu closed for a day and a half a couple of months ago to clean after an employee tested positive. Of course, I don't know if that is a company policy or just one incident. Googling the topic produced responses to positive employee tests ranging from almost nothing to shutdowns and deep cleaning. One official statement I found said, "We are committed to keeping our customers and employees safe." That could be interpreted a number of ways.

Restaurants, farmers markets, etc, open for business (I set to the restaurant page, click Home for access to farm markets, etc).  It lists all islands, but you can search by individual island too:
