The Ego and Ryobi mowers are very similar. My friend has an Ego mower and raves about it. I went with the Ryobi because I've been using their products for years and they have all exceeded my expectations. The Ego mowers have a longer run time but the batteries are more expensive.

I bought an EGO mower too. It came with a fast charger and big battery. It cuts like a gas mower but much quieter. I liked it so much I bought an EGO weedwacker. Trims my yard with one charge, has a cool trimline loading feature, and is also powerful & quiet.

I've had some issues with my Ryobi mower. It WORKS great but for example the 6 bolts that keep the handles attached keep getting loose and if I try to tighten them enough to stop that from happening they strip out so there is no real remedy other than tightening the bolts every time I use the mower, and I don't think that is an acceptable design. So I whined at them about it and surprisingly they replied back that was definitely NOT acceptable so they are replacing the mower without any grief on my end, they are sorry about the problem, and they will send the "whole package" so I'll have a spare charger and battery. This is not the type of customer service I'm accustomed to receiving so I'm wondering which plot of The Twilight Zone is most likely to happen? I'll get the new mower but all my grass will die? Is the new mower going to take my foot off? Am I even awake?

Who did you contact? The same thing happened with our mower. Hubby talked to Home Despot and they said, "too bad" and that was it. Did you contact Ryobi directly? And was it still under warranty? Ours was just over the two year warranty that came with it.

I didn't bother contacting HD because it was past the 90 day return window and it was seemed a manufacturer warranty issue so I contacted Ryobi directly.

Just a suggestion, but if you have other issues with the mower document them all at the same time so they see that a full replacement is a better alternative than a warranty repair.

Their standard warranty is 5 years, and the handle issue is definitely a parts/workmanship problem covered by it, and the mowers haven't even been available for 5 years. My guess is that it's cheaper to replace the mowers than to repair them.
