For the driveway, if you go with 1.5" (NOT minus) gravel drain rock you'll track less cinder into your house. It is more expensive than cinder by volume though. Having a small driveway you shouldn't need much. If the driveway is already to that level you could instead/also get a smaller gravel to "sugar" it and lock it in place.

You can pick up stuff yourself at Puna Rock for like $20 a pickup load or call Jim Rightfeld 938-1649. Assuming your driveway is level enough he can spread 20 tons of gravel for you right out the back of his dump truck for $400-500ish.
