March 12, 2022

Aloha
Rob,

Urgent, we need your testimony for HB1411, HB1414, and HB1403.

If you have submitted testimony for this bill in the past, please resubmit now since, it has moved into the next committee. Once you're signed into the Capitol website, click on the bill name below to be directed to the testimony page. If you want to testify through Zoom, make sure to sign up when you submit your written testimony. In person testimony is now accepted, as well.

Senate Transportation Committee Hearing: Tuesday, March 15, 2022 at 3:00 PM at Conf. RM 224.

HB1411: This bill is part of the abandoned vehicle package. It would allow better accountability of abandoned vehicle owners by adding the requirement of a vehicle buyer's full address disclosed on the title.

HB1414: This bill is part of the abandoned vehicle package. It subjects chronic offenders of abandoned vehicles to additional fines.

HB1403: This bill requires the Department of Transportation, in collaboration with the County of Hawaii, to conduct site surveys to identify the most suitable location for an alternate route in Puna below Highway 130.

If you need help submitting testimony, Public Access Room has great tips on how to submit testimony. https://lrb.hawaii.gov/par/engagement-101. Feel free to call our office for help, as well: 808-586-6530.

I will be submitting testimony in support of these bills and suggest that you, Punaweb reader, do so also.

HB1403 is of particular interest to us all. It has taken more than ten years to get to the starting gate for PMAR (Puna Makai Alternate Route). This effort need to start now, not later.

So please, each of you take the time to find out how easy it is to submit testimony.

Mahalo kalianna,

Once one registers on the legislature web site submitting testimony is very simple. I would encourage all readers here to position themselves to get involved politically.

We may be at an interesting point in our local history where the passage of time itself has us poised to exit the Plantation Era of government. Let's find out.
Assume the best and ask questions.

It actually is surprisingly straightforward and easy to register and submit testimony.  Nice to feel like we are able to at least give our own personal nudge to the advancement of a Puna Makai route.  Mahalo Nui Rob.

HB 1403 will be before the Transportation Committee tomorrow, March 15. This is about an alternative route into Puna.

If you have not submitted testimony in favor please consider doing so now. Instructions are in the original post.

Mahalo!
