I’d say the chances of Gene Roddenberry coming back to life as a triple mouthed acid blooded alien life form hell bent on the destruction of all humans is more likely than any devine intervention.

There were failures in both the NASA Mercury and Apollo programs, but both ended up being successful. If a god had wanted them to fail, why did that god let them succeed? You are starting to scrape the barrel.

For those interested, the latest from Astrobotic about the Pereguine lunar lander is below - they've successfully reestablished communications and have got the batteries to start recharging. I doubt there's much chance of a moon landing, but it's like Apollo 13 without the astronauts. If a god wants it to fail then why doesn't he/she/it just smite it like in the old days? Or maybe just move the moon a little bit and confuse everyone.

Hey, maybe it was the gods. Not sure why they let America decimate the Navajo Nation, but at least they protected the moon from Gene Roddenberry's ashes! I guess we can't fathom godly priorities...

You know, I suspect if Roddenberry had known when he was alive that his ashes would be in space, he would have been very happy. Unless they decide to crash the lander on the moon, he's going to be in space for a lot longer than five years!

If Roddenberry's ashes are slammed into the moon at high speed, there is less chance they can be desecrated on future missions.
