Harry did what?

Sure, bots, and you're a cheaper model, can grep data, scrub sites for words, pics, but damn they fail at understanding what they've collected, they have no idea of what happened in between those words, in all the moments unreported, or captured..

Harry was adamantly against the moving of the church.

But you don't care, as long as you can make up nonsense, can dominate, can shit on every conversation, why would you care?

Well, as I’ve said before, you’re entitled to your own opinion, but not your own facts.

Nothing that happened during the Kalapana flows happened without Harry Kim saying it could happen.

Maybe, instead of being the complete horses ass that you have proven yourself to be time and time again, watch this: (since you have proven that your attention span is so very limited, fast forward to the 30ish minute mark)

I know you find facts to be such an obstruction to your opinionated viewpoints.

Change is inevitable, embrace and adapt to reality, and when at a Walter's, be sure to ask him "to make me one with everything" Smile

I loved Walter's. The last time I sat there, had a meal, Maurice and Katia were here, and we had just gone up and looked over the upper stretches of the lava tube that transported lava down to Kalapana, and were hanging out eating, and the press got wind that Maurice was there so they started to gather, and he turned to me and said, watch this, they suck up every word I say as if it's the gospel truth..

So Maurice walked out to the parking lot and proceeded to tell a story of how he was building a fireproof canoe that he intended to take down a river of lava.. and the press ate it up.. Katia and I were off to one side doubled over in laughter, and yet those reporters, hanging on every word said went off to report it.. said by the man himself..

Yep.. kinda reminds me of how gullible some folks are.. especially this new batch of "I learned it on the internet" trolls.. what a joke, eh?

I’m trying my best to understand your point.
One person told a tall tale so therefore all people tell tale tales?
Reporters aren’t to be trusted?
If Maurice concocted a story, Harry did too?

“…yet those reporters, hanging on every word said went off to report it…”

I didn’t know FOX News existed in 1990.

HereOnThePrimalEdge - I’m trying my best to understand your point.
Not to speak for MyManao, but I took it as - some things happen in front of the camera, and some things happen behind it, and some times you actually just had to have been there to get the full story and know the difference.

MyManao - Harry was adamantly against the moving of the church.
Did Harry explain why he was against moving it? While this lines up with some of the conversations we've had about his thoughts on Hilo and the '84 flow, I'm still curious as to what reasons he might have given in 1990. Did he object to people moving their houses as well or just the church?

Have you had a chance to see Fire of Love? Any thoughts? I've seen the related Herzog film, but have heard good things about the other documentary as well. Figured it doesn't hurt to get the perspective of someone who knew them when not on camera. (I was just a punk kid during those years and was there for the waves, so didn't bother to pay much attention to the notable personalities on the scene :)

HiloJulie - I am aware of and have read 3 books where the person in question is credited as an author and/or photographer.
Oh, so you've known the titles the entire time and are also playing dumb. I'm so surprised. It's almost like every accusation you make of other people engaging in subterfuge, or being a troll, is just a confession of your own behavior. Much like Tom's little games, your song and dance is a bit sad and pathetic, but if being a clown gets you the type of attention you crave, keep at it, I guess.

I saw both films but didnʻt get the Maurice and Katia reference until Ironyak elaborated. My lasting impression was that Iʻm glad they found each other because finding anyone else would probably have been difficult for each of them. Love that quote from Maurice.

Well, I was there during the 1990 flow – and the moving of the church. As was my husband. Fresh off the boat Hawaii residents of two years! We took one couple who lost their home to the lava flow into our Ohana home for over 2 years. The first neighbor we met after buying and building our home in Hawaiian Acres had parents who lived in Kalapana. My brand new kitchen made hundreds of meals for the people of Kalapana. I know the full story. And not from sitting at Walter’s – or publishing books about the tremendous and beautiful sights of the lava flow - but by having boots on the ground. Something that happened “behind the camera” very very much.

Harry’s only care was really two fold – one safety of everyone – and two – if he had to give an evacuation order – it would be heeded with no bullshit. (Unlike his roll over and do nothing stance with TMT) County employees and County equipment were sometimes used during the moving of the church. If Harry had said no and was “adamantly against” moving it, he would have been sacrificed to Pele.

If you maybe pulled that giant baseball bat sized stick out of your ass, maybe, just maybe, you could consider that there could be more books written? As I stated before, if there was any book the author in question that had a forward written by him, I am either not remembering it or it was so inconsequential in what it said. Further, I bought the author in question books at the reuse centers in Pahoa and Keaau, and it’s possible the page with the forward in question was ripped out. I no longer own the books, as they were re-donated back to the reuse centers after I read them.

Again, maybe there are more books written?

Pull the baseball bat sized stick out of your ass – please! Here is a good self help book to guide you!
