I agree! However, in addition to the significant property tax increase, get used to the new term “assessment” for your new road, sewer, etc…

Here’s an idea. We consolidate our HPP lots with Shipman land, get in on that sweet dollar or two an acre per year in county taxes.

Then figure out a way to get the railroad right of way back, some overlooked clause in the deed transfer, and we get a direct (PRIVATE!) road to Hilo.

Does that (the railroad right of way) have something to do with the sugar growers? I think I have seen that old deed somewhere...

I am all in when it comes to supporting small local neighborhood farmstand growers...so many wonderful offerings all over the area ... some are free, some are honor box, but anyone who is growing and producing (and baking, omg; yummmmmm!) product to provide locally is doing right by the land...sharing the bounty!

(Until the county cracks down because they aren't getting their tax cut) :::eyeroll:::
