*This Post Is About HPP* Waikahekahe, WATUMULL'S, Owners/Members Meeting 10/27/2024
Well look at that. HPP residents will still get their roads maintained AND they will still be able to fight about mailboxes. It's a win win!

Perhaps it is time to think outside the box, come together, ignore our reps and the County as they do us, and take care of ourselves.

(Emphasis mine)

Quite possibly the most brilliant words I have ever seen on Punaweb. Downright Jeffersonian.

I wish you all the best.

Aloha Leilanidude,

Who says the USPS is "not allowed" to put in individual mailboxes? That option is still a valid one that is stated in their current operating manual. In addition, they might not exactly be making a profit, but they sure are extending their hand and grabbing billions in federal money. Personally, I would challenge the USPS. Especially as I daily see new houses in Hilo that are receiving curbside delivery.
Still...
Getting back to this post, and leaving mailboxes (you would think the world revolved around mailboxes). I disagree with some others on this platform that we should not discuss the lawsuit, that HPPOA brought on themselves, because "it's in the hands of the court and the judge will decide." Great, the judge can decide. I do not believe anyone is taking that away from him. But we can all sure discuss the merits of the case, in the meantime.
The fact that HPPOA has pointed fingers at the Watumull's and accused them of being dishonest and manipulative says a lot about some on the HPPOA board and their lawyers- as in, they haven't a clue about what HPPOA is, or who the Watumull's are.
Supposedly, HPPOA and their lawyers brought the Watumull's into the lawsuit to "clarify." What exactly is HPPOA trying to clarify? That they didn't understand about the deed restrictions? That even if they did understand, it isn't their fault for breaking the deed restrictions because the deed restrictions are suddenly not fair and are "illegal?" That the Watumull's cheated them? That nothing HPPOA has done is their fault? Nothing, as in, calling out Owners to "bring it on," resulting in getting themselves sued, spending hundreds of thousands in legal fees, spending hundreds of thousands on a non-road project that may end up going nowhere, only being able to pave 1 mile (or even less) instead of 2, and on and on...
When are the HPPOA board's supporters going to wake up? When are they going to finally admit that what some on this board have done, whether intentionally or not, has cost HPP Owners a lot of unnecessary money? And all of this is HPPOA's fault- no one else's.

I personally know nothing about HPP, it's comings and goings and omg the pilikia you all indulge in.. but I find the ramblings to be in some sense entertaining.. not that I do more than skim the long winded posts.. but hey..

I do think when someone posits a point of view and demands respect as if their's is accurate the whole house of cards comes tumbling down when they make inaccurate statements that are easily checked. It sorta renders their entire schtick suspicious.. as if they are the ravings of..  rather than actually fact based opinions..

For instance the statement above.. in which the USPS is somehow the bad guy.. has the phase..

they sure are extending their hand and grabbing billions in federal money.

Which is just not true. We all know the USPS is self reliant.. self funded. In fact the FY2024 U.S. Postal Service Appropriations states clearly..

From.. https://crsreports.congress.gov/product/pdf/IF/IF12516

The U.S. Postal Service (USPS) generates nearly all of its funding—about $78.5 billion annually according to the USPS’s most recent financial report—by charging users of the mail for the costs of the services it provides. Congress, however, does provide an annual appropriation—about $50 million in FY2023—to compensate the USPS for revenue it forgoes in providing free mailing privileges to the blind and overseas voters.

So please.. try to keep your angst in control.. at least to the point that you're factually based.. otherwise you're just proving Obie's point..

when someone comes with, "we all know", grab your wallet.  We don't all know that. Only the misinformed know that.  From 2008-2018 the USPS reported 69 billion (with a "B") in losses.

Geez....How hard is it, MyManao, to fact check?

https://dailyinterlake.com/news/2024/may...r-bailout/

Hopefully, there are more people like Punatang. Which would mean there may be some hope for the U.S. yet.

Yep, Pat, I stand by my point.. you're making it up as you go along in order to be the center of.. its all Pat all the time.. it's the kiss Pat's ass shit show.. get in line..

Also, MyManao, what "point" of Mr. O's would I be proving? What "point" has Mr. O. made that he himself has proved? So far, I cannot think of one. And he does not want to discuss the HPPOA lawsuit, because there is really not much he, or any of the HPPOA lemmings, can say in HPPOA's defense.
HPPOA brought all of this mess on themselves. And the hundreds of thousands (a million and more whenever they are "done") in owner road fee money that is being spent to try to cover up their costly mistakes, is ALL HPPOA's fault.

Aloha MyManao,

How intimate. But I somehow do not think my husband would go along with you, or anyone else, kissing my ass.

My giving you facts, which I have already read, is not "making it up as I go along."

And it is not my fault that you are having difficulty keeping up.

Be well,
Patricia

I would think that the "new" moderation of PunaWeb would deal specifically with these types of incendiary posts, especially common from this one specific poster as quoted.

Just saying.

The Postal Accountability and Enhancement Act of 2006 required the USPS to fund retiree benefits 75 years in advance.
This requirement -- imposed only on the Postal Service -- was eliminated in the 2022 Postal Service relief bill.

As for the roads, County "could" define a lesser "ag road" standard (grading, gravel, narrower right-of-way, no pavement).
For that matter, County could simply declare that roads in an ag subdivision are "alleyways" (15' paved on 25' ROW).
But it should be clear to all that County likes the situation just the way it is, and no changes will be forthcoming.
