French bread crisis

No idea why this has turned into a thread about crumpets. What is a crumpet?  Sounds like tiny bits of bread formed together in the shape of domestic companions.

Speaking of breakfast, there is an oddly interesting, albeit expensive Sunday brunch at The Hilo Hawaiian. It is not Brittish. At least I don't think it is...

I know TomK called Windscale a disaster, and no available fresh French bread a crisis. Would this thread now be considered a catastrophe because it is morphing into a discussion of breakfast breads?

True enough because someone else observed that man cannot live by crumpets or baguettes alone. Sometimes you need a nice fresh French bread.

I think it was god or someone in upper management who said something similar:

"Man shall not live by bread alone."

Well, my plans were for toasted French bread sandwiches with turkey, sage and onion stuffing. After that, there were egg sandwiches with potato and leek soup, but they didn't order enough bread.

As to stuffing or "living on bread alone"...

I no longer eat any of that ilk...I am one of those wacky keto people.

I live on bacon, heavy cream, and cheeeeeese.

And coffee. And wine.

(Ok, there is more, but it doesn't make for clever copy.)

Thank you Wahine!  Now that you jogged my memory, I think I had a crumpet one morning in a home in Mildenhall. This was many years ago but I'm sure the person who made it called it something else. Quite delicious as I recall.
