Vaccines urged as Hawaii confirms second measles case
#51
What's neat is you spend half an hour responding to my two second quip to someone else so by the time you finally post your tantrum, it's even more irrelevant than usual.  I'm just doing my best to block for the team here.  I don't have as much free time as you clearly do but Lord knows if I don't keep you busy you will start lecturing Rob again and we may lose Punaweb for good. Please don't do that again.

Not being up-to-date does not mean non-vaccinated.

Punatang, do you have a two second yes/no for this statement? I was going to ask the same thing, because from your comments and edits I’m not sure you recognize the difference.

PT: "doing my best to block for the team". Who is "the team"? Iʻm certainly not on it.
Certainty will be the death of us.

It's probably due to all of the MAGA influence here.

Not a chance. The vast majority of Puna school children are (not in order of per magnitude)
Hawaiian
Polynesian
Micronesian
Japanese
Filipino
These folks vote pure Democrat, keeping the state and County in a continual quagmire.

I hate to point out the obvious, so I won't do it. I could add an emoji, but I prefer not to use them and I suspect it would be pointless in this case.

Punatang - What's neat is you spend half an hour responding to my two second quip to someone else...
Saw your post while checking my phone during lunch break, hit reply, and went to look at the current vaccination schedule for Hawaii, then to look at change in the numbers between elementary, middle, and high school, then thought about a conversation I had with a doctor about how many parents aren't very concerned about the HPV vaccine being needed as they don't think their middle schoolers are sexually active, then finished up my reply and my lunch. True, it's a bit more effort than a two second single line quip, but far less BS in the result, so time well spent IMO.

Tang - I'm just doing my best to block for the team here.
kalianna - Who is "the team"? Iʻm certainly not on it.

As Tang is playing word games instead of answering, maybe it's Team Misinformation? Team Childhood Suffering and Death? From all the fairy tales to buy into, not sure why the interest is in stories that result in unnecessary illness for the most vulnerable, but that seems to be what is being bought and sold, leaving others to pay the price.

Edge - "Not being up-to-date does not mean non-vaccinated." Punatang, do you have a two second yes/no for this statement?
Hey now, take a number! I'm still waiting for an answer on how "Time will tell - and it already is" about how Pastor Horse-paste's views haven't been discredited. But I guess as the crystal that grew in my palm after being vaccinated hasn't started flashing yet, I still have some time to spare - however, doubtful it's ever going to be enough to cover waiting for Punatang to actually explain himself.

Do you "think your middle schoolers are sexually active"?

Sorry Punatang, you're running a deficit in answers to questions, so you'll need to reply to at least one of the several questions asked of you previously to show you're actually interested in fair exchange before I bother to respond. Here are some options:
- I still don’t know which doctor you referred to, or exactly what his/her recommendations are
- Do explain the "I'm not against vaccines but believe the discredited views of those who are against the COVID vaccine" nuances.
- How exactly will "Time will tell - and it already is" that "this shows a great deal of ignorance and immaturity."
- "Not being up-to-date does not mean non-vaccinated." Punatang, do you have a two second yes/no for this statement?

Hawaii’s 2nd measles case confirmed in household member
https://www.staradvertiser.com/2025/04/1...ld-member/
"The Hawaii Department of Health today confirmed a second case of measles in an adult household member of the first case, which was in a child under the age of 5.
...
DOH said it has already investigated others who may have been exposed, based on this being a presumed case of measles. The adult is no longer contagious.

Through contact-tracing efforts, health officials have also identified dozens of individuals exposed to one or both cases at various Oahu locations, and asked 10, which had not been vaccinated or shown immunity against measles, to isolate at home.
...
Measles, a highly contagious viral illness, is spread through direct contact with an infected person or through the air when an infected person coughs or sneezes.

An infected person can spread measles to others from four days before developing a rash through four days afterward. The virus can remain in the air up to two hours after an infected person has left the room.

“Vaccination is the best way to protect loved ones and prevent an outbreak,” said DOH.
“If you or your ohana have not been vaccinated or otherwise have immunity against measles, please talk with your healthcare provider about getting a dose of the (measles, mumps, rubella) MMR vaccine.”" (emphasis mine - bit more at link)

Sorry Punatang

Thank you ironyak.  I accept your apology.  Inspired by the Graciousness of TomK, I hope we can take this opportunity to reset.

Many questions go unanswered here on Punaweb. When I sense that a question is more an attack and less genuine curiosity, I dismiss it out of hand.  If someone misrepresents me in a post that includes a question, I dismiss it out of hand.  If the answer is readily obvious, already posted, or easily attainable to someone of their intelligence, and they are just being lazy, I dismiss it out of hand. They don't deserve my time or energy. This happens with 95% of your questions.  I ask lazy questions too but the difference is that I don't demand an answer.

Obie asked you a question about your support for domestic terrorists/ism and you ignored him.  Why didn't you answer Obie?

I asked a question of all Puna Powerwall owners and not a single person answered including a known Powerwall owner who has been here and asked me questions after my question. Why didn't that prolific posting Powerwall owner answer me?

I respect people's right and personal reasons for how they choose to express themselves on Punaweb and in life in general. Do you?

I think Rob made a statement on this very subject somewhere in the recent past. I will avail to locate it. The gist was that no one is required to answer your questions. Someday, I hope to have time to compile a Punaweb Robert's Rules of Order. In the meantime. One of my favorite Robert's Rules was directed specifically to you:

"It is often a lost thought but communication does not require winning."

Ironyak it is demonstrable that you do not answer everyone's questions. Why then do you feel entitled to an answer to yours?
