Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids in Hawaii
(08-16-2025, 04:10 PM)leilanidude Wrote: Hawaii Democrats called out the National Guard and set up checkpoints during the lava eruption and after the tropical storm Iselle. They utilized the police to arrest people for going to the beach during COVID. Hawaii Democrats have no trouble turning the National Guard and police force loose on the people here.

I see, tapping that great big, beautiful fountain of "alternative" facts, once again!

Let's be clear. Hawaii's Governor, elected by the Hawaii people, deployed the National Guard during real bona-fide emergencies. And at the request of the local then Mayor and Chief of Police.

Further, the National Guard worked with and coordinated with the Hawaii County Police and supplemented, not led, their operations during these emergencies.

At no time was there an order to "take over" policing operations by the then Governor over a perceived and made up emergency.

The 40oz Great Value WalMart brand of coffee went from $15.00 bucks a can to $22.00 bucks in the last few weeks. And if you think Kona grown coffee is expensive, just wait until those 50% tariffs on Brazil kick in!

Don't worry Obie! When you get back to Hawaii, I'll save you a cup of some good Kona grown Bad Ass Coffee!

Like right here.. she professes to ignore me but has started going on about an irrelevant subject as this coffee distraction based on a post she supposedly ignores.

And, besides, who.. pray tell.. drinks coffee at $73 for 12 ounces? But still it gave her a tread.. a very thin tentative thread..  to follow up on a post she supposedly ignores. What a waste..

I am sure the Dude's rambling about the National Guard and Democrats was quite relevant, so I think a good response to you would be to quote a post once made by Obie.

And if that's not clear enough for you, maybe this quote says it better as it was ironically originally directed at YOU!

That's one hell of an ignore list you got going there Jules. Post in response to an ignored post in seconds.. give the chick a prize!

Oh no, never mind. Barney will take care of that!

Adopting little 'e's method of debate now I see in pointing out response times of posts! It was 7 minutes and not "seconds" but who is counting anyways? But I do agree that you and little 'e have so much in common after all, so it's not surprising.

But, as I pointed out in another thread, as well as Ironyak's astute observation about people not reading posts, and yet still thinking they are entitled to reply, clearly, you missed this post:

Truth be told, me neither. But it did make for a fun screen grab and photo op!

At any event, carry on MyManao. Maybe share some more stories of your ancestors and all that stuff all about you and making every thread topic all about YOU!

I'm going to go make another cup of some Bad Ass Kona coffee and then take Barney on a nice walk!

Oh yeh, this post was 11 minutes after yours!

No need to fight and argue - clearly there is plenty of ass to go around.

A historic lava flow that destroyed several hundred homes and a once-in-a-hundred-year pandemic that killed millions (and counting).
A single insufferable DOGE staffer gets rolled by a couple high school kids.

Opie - The only thing that was ever on the Big Island was a coffee that sold local coffee. They did not grow their own coffee.
As randomq pointed out - coffee-ception! Coffee that sells local coffee must be part of that circular economy for Hawaii we keep hearing about. Of course they don't grow their own coffee (which chain coffee store does? - sorry baristas, it's your day to work the fields in Brazil), they partnered with Greenwell Farms (est. Big Island, 1850s) before franchising in the 90s and being bought out in 2019.

Bit of "Aloha-washing" going on with their "Cinnamon Malasada" and "Hana Bliss" flavored coffees (no coffee beans from Hawaii said to be included), sure, but what's new? It's not like Elvis made documentaries and Hawaii is a global brand now - can even get a poke bowl in D.C., although it may not protect you from the roving mobs as well as a large sub sandwich.

Imagine that!

All I tried to do was tie ass licking to Hawaii as was suggested, but, nope, it got sidetracked by denigrating Kona Coffee Growers, rambling on about National Guard deployments and insulting Democrats.

Apparently, some do like ass licking. But only here in Hawaii.

Good question.

It appears to be a repeat of old news about ice raids.

Some teachers got detained briefly a few months ago, a lady from down under got caught trying to move into the United States illegally, a rumor was going around about raiding coffee farms but it's not the season and no one is picking coffee and not much else that can be verified.

And on Aug 13th 2025, as harvesting season is set to begin, the president of Aloha Latinos, founded by Kona and Ka'u coffee growers, asked Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz how to address the ICE raids. If you actually read/watch/listen, you may be able to keep up on the local news.

(This post contains 100% certified Hawaii-related content - buyer beware, may be too bold and roubust a brew for some who like to water down reality and mix-in lots of artificial sweeteners)
