Yes, I've contributed a lot to PW, including explanations of the research the observatories conduct on Mauna Kea (*), and to schools in Pahao via requests from Rob. I've taken Puna residents on tours of Mauna Kea and shown them the interiors of some observatories you don't normally get to see. I took people in during the last East Rift eruption, told people how to watch events in space that they probably wouldn't have known about, and helped my neighbors out in various ways. I also helped Rob take care of a wonderful man Rob took into his care some years ago. It turned out he was John Wayne's cook and we spent a lot of time together and I hope it helped him out in his last few months.

So again, there's the embodied energy problem, that is those new objects take energy to create, and when I only use my emergency tools a couple times a year, it would take many, many, years to recoup the energy and carbon spent creating them as compared to simply using the tools I already have. Bernie is the obvious avatar for a leftist party in the US, and for the first time people in the US are not becoming more conservative as they age, with Gen X maintaining their liberal views and Millenials actually becoming more progressive as they age. So as the dinos continue to die off and release their strangle hold on electoral politics, there will be a leftward shift in my lifetime (as long as we still get to have elections and don't have to take it to the streets)

Thanks for checking. I wasn't sure, but the other threads are from long ago, so I was just going by recent activity. I appreciate your help. Incidentally, the project is dead as far as I'm concerned and said so in one of those other threads. There's no chance the TMT will be built here. I've been saying that for a few years now.

Enough with this crap. More made-up nonsense. You can't help making stuff up, can you? If you're going to make a claim, at least post evidence, and make sure it actually backs up what you post. I could use one of MyManao's common used methods of quoting, by just using the quote function and quote you as saying Blah, Blah, Blah, but I have too much respect for you to do that. This is just easier.

Having said that, and pardon me as my response might just jump around a bit, but lets start with Musk. Where are the federal regulations that COULD be in place to curtail his X platform, and kiddie porn producing love child Grok? Remember all the outrage back when it was found out that Biden was pushing his finger a bit on the scale and trying to get the then Twitter and Facebook to stop all the COVID misinformation nonsense? Today, we got half of both halls of congress bent over, pants down in the Oval saying "thank you sir, may I have another" as it relates to there being NO passing of laws to regulate Musk's sick perversions. 

As for EV's and all that, yes, they may make the pollution part of the equation go up here for this part and then go down for that part, but they produce less TOTAL pollution. It's a good start. And in the long run, assuming you care about tomorrow, its better than what we got today.
