Thanks Obie. That clears up all the confusion created by the ones that kept insisting that Greggor said nothing.. and sure sounds reasonable. Just about as much as I could hope for from any level headed politician.
I personally think solar should be left to end use roof tops, and wind discontinued all together. Both are extremely wasteful, and toxic, when compared to a clean and simple, and extremely robust source like geothermal.
And the funny, really funny, part is I flipped flopped from an extremely anti-geothermal activist to a staunch supporter of geothermal, as the industry developed better technology. Anyone that's been here long enough to remember the first exploratory well run by the state, very close to where PGV is now, will remember the stench, the horrid toxic waste being dumped into perc ponds that made driving down Pohoiki road feel like you were risking your health just to go makai. Those days are long gone, although the anti-everything crowd hasn't caught up, PGV has proven we can scale up geothermal to be a statewide clean and stable source of electricity for now and long into the future. I think state is nuts to consider any other source, other than as I said at the end user's site specifically. And, I am thrilled that DHHL has taken up the cause.. touché!
Oh, and as to where, of course geothermal can be done anywhere, so no need to get all twisted into knots about zones and all that. But hey, PGV is good for the long haul, especially after Pele gave them her blessings, and built protective barriers all around their facilities. I'd love to see them ramp up to double, or triple their capacity.. while also seeing plants built elsewhere.

You do realize HB1982 "Died in Committee" - which in the political realm, is where congress, be it State or Federal, allows individual members to introduce or support bills that have no chance of ever being passed, but "look good" for their individual constituents.
Says a lot.

What does Greggor think of geothermal expansion, DHHL's plans and using taxpayer money to perform studies for?
----------
What DHHL does with their money is not really up to Greggor, is it?

Which then begs the question as to why he would support a bill that funds DHHL to be spent on a specific item.

Yes, it says he didn't bow to public opposition to the bill. Whether that "looks good" to individual constituents depends on the individual in question.

Another reason bills get hung up in committee is because they have yet to be developed, matured, or the ideas being presented have yet to gain traction among a broader group of legislators, to get to the floor. And, subsequently, they get revisited in the next session. To think, as some want to suggest, the only reason they don't advance is because they've 'died,' or in general is a negative, is naive.

Just a personal question: Can anyone name any tangible thing Greggor has gotten done?

So, are you are saying he supported a bill that he knows that the general public and more importantly, his constituency will oppose? If that's true, then could he be pandering to just a few of his supporters, making himself look good to them and saying, "well, I tried?"

Thanks Obie. That clears up any confusion some have attempted to sew as to whether Greggor Ilagan has proffered any meaningful statement specifically focused on PGV. He hasn't.

Yes Rob, per his website he, "successfully push[ed] a new bus route into Hawaiian Paradise Park". Ilagan also, "spearheaded a 20-acre community park."
https://voteilagan.com/meet-greggor/
As a young Councilmember, Greggor knew he had to learn about issues at the roots level and worked directly with the community in order to make impactful change. That led him to riding the bus every day so that he could successfully push a new bus route into Hawaiian Paradise Park.
Also, Greggor spearheaded a 20-acre community park to be built in three phases in Hawaiian Paradise Park. It would include a covered pavilion, restrooms, paths, a playground and dog park are listed as part of phase one, followed by covered play courts, ball fields, skate park and additional parking in phases two and three. He is still pushing for it to be built.

If that's true, then could he be pandering to just a few of his supporters, making himself look good to them and saying, "well, I tried?" SOME of his constituents oppose. A vote either way could be construed as pandering, given the knowledge that the bill won’t pass.
