In case this hasn't been posted yet - https://maps.deflock.org
More widespread on Oahu & Maui - starting to pop up more here (note also that it's crowd sourced so may have some inaccuracies)
Sounds like some are looking at taking a page out of that old Alan Moore story about how to address a ubiquitous surveillance society. Remember, remember the day before November. Which witch is which? We are Anonymous. and so forth...

Seems like, for some people, maybe their level of empathy is directly correlated to their level of fear for themselves? Flock is saving lives and solving crimes. Those are facts. You can have your own opinions but you can't have your own facts.
Are Anti-Flockers really calling for unnecessary deaths of our children and our seniors due to their own selfish Flock hesitancy? Where is the empathy?

unnecessary deaths of our children and our seniors
Like 2nd Amendment freedom, some would like the freedom not to be under the eye of a surveillance state. Probably in the Declaration of Independence, Constitution, or some Amendments.
“the Supreme Court has ruled that an implied right to privacy exists, coming from "zones of privacy" created by multiple amendments in the Bill of Rights.”

Sheesh. Now I'm waiting for the "If you're not doing anything wrong, what's the problem? I have nothing to hide so I'm ok with it." or a variation of such.

Edit Reason: typos
)
Ngl I see the value, but ordinary people doing ordinary stuff need protections from the surveillance state... I don't care if someone sped a bit from camera A to camera B. I don't think the police have a right to know everyone that ever parked near a known weed dealer. But car thieves, murderers, lost grandparents? Sure, that's great!
Who on our island gave the green light for these? Police department? Who do we lobby for protections? County council?

Notwithstanding the Ting Tang Tangy Tang Tang's false equivalency (gaslighting?) attempt and once again, shoving his MAGA vomit onto the pages of PunaWeb, but consider this:
Flock Safety is now a corporation valued at 8 Billion, with 300 Million a year in subscriber revenues and employs around 2,000 people.
Its business model is to get each law enforcement agency, hence here it would be Hawaii County Police to sign up and buy the cameras and thus get access to the data of THOSE cameras it owns, BUT, depending on other agreements, may let that data be shared with other law enforcement agencies and vice versa.
Further, a duly organized HOA, such as HPP, or large property owners, could in effect, do the same.
So, anyone who has a "log in" can view the data collected by those cameras as well as other cameras depending on any share agreements with other subscribers.
I know there are Flock cams up around Hilo, but I am not too sure who owns them - Police or other businesses.
Having said all that, only way I see this from NOT being abused is to either pressure our local law enforcement agencies, Council, State Reps and Senators, along with HOA's and large property owners to "Just Say NO!" (we know how good that worked in the past) or to regulate WHO gets access to the collected data, which, at a minimum, SHOULD require a court issued search warrant that is in full compliance with the 4th Amendment. The allowance of some sick twisted (no doubt proud MAGA red hatter) cop/deputy to search for suspected women going for an abortion, or the whereabouts of former jilted lovers, or some ego driven HPP Board Member to see who might be speeding down Shower Drive, ruins ANY good these cameras can ever provide.
So, I guess you could call me a supporter of Flock Cameras "as long as it's done right."

It's not only Flock, but there is a report going 'round today that the WH wants to put it in our national parks..
But there's more..
A federal procurement form, posted via journalist Jack Poulson’s All-Source Intelligence newsletter this week, shows the Trump administration’s instructions to “lift the stop work order” on a $2 million contract with Paragon. Paragon’s technology allows users to surveil targets through various methods, like hacking encrypted message platforms or turning targets’ phones into listening devices. Earlier this year, officials in Italy’s right-wing government decided to sever ties with the company after reports that its tools had been used to target journalists and pro-immigrant advocates — two groups that Trump and his administration have attacked in a number of ways.
So, again.. anyone thinking our gov is going to play fair.. do it right.. or whatever nonsense one might justify their naivety with... good luck with that.

I've also done work for government agencies where the application provider handles all the data processing, but requires complete access to the citizens' data to do so. You'll be happy to know that, in at least one local government agency, that was a hard NO. Kinda scary if flock gets to keep, use, and trade the camera data, or adjoining government data, for their own purposes. I definitely wouldn't support that.

So much hate speech & conspiracy theories about freedumbs. There is a dementia epidemic right now. That is a fact. Grandparents, maybe your own age, are wandering around, as you read this, in towns, cities, and national parks, lost and scared, and the technology exists to save them.
Do you want to tell a four year old keiki that TuTu wen make because you were worried about "muh rights"? How many needless deaths would be enough to move the needle for you? Where is the empathy?
