Peter, perhaps the Hui at HPP should get a little more active with the HPP website. What I'm saying is. If people notice shady individuals around their neighborhood, take digital pictures of their cars, and hopefully their license plate will be visible in these images. Then post them on the HPP website in a new page titled "Possible Perps in Puna". If we could get a few of these pics posted of perps cars like I said, and even their images...wow.. I betcha things would slow down drastically in the theft dept. This would have a real good effect too once the news got out the the HPP website is posting pics of possible jobsite two legged cockroaches....perhaps it will be enough to keep these low life individuals away?

Handle every situation like a dog,If you can't eat it or hump it,piss on it and walk away...

Or post "BEWARE: Snooper (or theft) alert" flyers on your street with the description & license # if you have it? So neighboors are informed and the would-be perps know you saw them if they drive thru again? Tho - then you end up with ugly flyers that disolve in the first rain... hmm... let me think more on that Smile

I think Beachboy has a point. In the past the HPP site wasn't that active so I dtopped venturing there. Perhaps announcing this at an association meeting would pick up the pace at that forum also.

If they had a possible Perp's picture posting page, it would forwarn neighbors to be on the look see and also the perps. Good idea BB!

First, I would want to get legal advice on how to do it properly, to avoid slander liability.

ok in resonseto the last four post, I'll answer as best I can 1st thing in the morning.
1.Beachboy, I invite you to try to get that through the HPPOA they'll tell you go to NW. But I never know what to expect over there. Constant changes in board menbers. Don't mention Punaweb, to the current mgr. evidently there something between them.
But I have a list of plate numbers and pictures of cars. Waiting to find someone here who up on formatting videos and pics on one like utube video. Then we can just pass it around the tv stations.

2.yea flyer clutter the telephone poles all ove the park, yard sale signs, moving, house for sale. They should stop all that mess because a lot of people leave they're posting there until the weather takes them and they end up in the road. keep thinkin, thamks

3.Mella our HPPOA isn't allow by law to be doing anything but maintain the roads. And yesterday when I went over there to look for the 6 NW signs supposadely dropped off by the P.D. yet no one has seen them. I noticed all the equiptment in the garage, the grader, the roller, trucks all sitting inside 2 guys were welding a fence gate? The HPPOA is an entity unto it's self. Go to a meeting, when you get here, they're abismal at best.

4.Oink is correct in that you could be sued if you are posting private lic plates and saying thing about the occupants? Mistakes could be made, S**T could happen where people start vandalizing these cars if they see em. Or confronting them?
These people if they are stupid and brazzen enough to steel in the middle of the day, they won't think twice about pulling out a gun and poppin you if you try to stop them. And they are armed, guns and rifles have been stolen for one old man at the end of the road.

So CAUTION and ask questions. Iknow people through the whole spectrum of economics and situations in the Park and puna. From the guy across the street who has been living in his container for 8-10 years, only lots away from brand new granite-top-spec house w/people fresh from the mainland who think just cause the house looks like one on the mainland they think it like moving from state to state on the mainland, not.

If there was a HPPNW meeting last Saturday I missed it. other commitment..
So to those 2-3 people I siad I'd see ya there I'm sorry if you showed up and ya missed me.
If any of you did show up and wish to share and "news", you can email me.

We had our NEIGHBOR WATCH meeting on Friday night and we are tightening ours up. Recent additions on my street 2EMTs and a Firefigher, I'm speed-dialing 1, before I hit 911. But anyone on any block in HPP can do what we did and I'd be happy to share.

Contrary to some who critizie which seems likes 1/2 the people who met me here. From one who knew me from adam until this happened.

I would like to share my opinion about the situation that is being addressed by this blog. Mr. Frost is an adamant protector of the safety and security of our neighborhood. I recall a time when my house had been burglerized on three seperate occasions and was inferiorated by the lack of follow through by the local police department. They would come to my place make out a report and then state simply " Well, I don't think here is much we can do to retrieve your belongings...."Mr. Frost was the first person in this neighborhood that made an effort to help me to stop the intrusive and repeated burgluries. In fact, we were able to catch a group of looters by collaboratively recognizing unknown and suspicious vehicles traversing our road. As a long time Puna resident I am thankful to Mr. Frost for his assistance in retaining a sense of security in our infrequently patrolled and inadequately protected neighborhood. He is a force to be reckoned with and I am personally grateful for his tenacious efforts to be heard. I hope that SOMEONE, rather than viewing him as abrasive and combative, see that he is but one of the frustrated and stifled voices of Paradise Park. Thank god for protestors, they are facilitators of change.
Thank you Mr. Frost for having the courage to let your voice be heard.
And to those that find fault in his phraseollogy imagine coming home to a house that has been broken into and missing irreplaceable items, and having the police department say in effect-- "Too bad for you." Isn't it about time that someone speaks up?

Melissa has a 14yr austic son who spends times in my shop learning skills that will allow him to support himself when his mom no longer can. Because he will be who he is for the rest of his life.
We seem to have no problem communicating.
When his stuff was taken, he said , "yea, u huh, ok" could care less about stuff. Wanted to go sand wood.

YOUR NEIGHBOR/HOOD WATCH is only as effective as those who will physically get in volved. Who on your street, has your back?
It's nice to know everyone on your street, so you can keep an eye on one another when they are off island and like it if they can email you to go look see if their house is ok.

So I am NOT with the HPPNW anymore as the funding got "expired" "tabled" and is going to use the HPPOA's 501©?
Well someone asked about HPP Road Improvements? Yea.....pass

If you are interested in setting up a watch for your street I'd happy to tell you how easy it was to do.

GOOD LUCK
