Welcome TeeDB,
You should find a lot, if not most, of the information you are looking for here. Try using the Search function - there's a fair bit of history here. But don't be afraid to ask.

*Bump*
I've noticed quite a few new members joining Punaweb that I recognize their names from other places.
Just thought I'd bump this again in case anyone feels like saying aloha.

Aloha! Just thought I would take a second to introduce myself. I bought a three acre parcel in Hawaiian Acres last August. My husband (Jon) and I moved to the Big Island in November. We rented a house in Glenwood while we cleared our land. We had Christmas dinner at Pam's house (best meal on the island!!). Then in February, we moved out to our land and "tented" it until our yurt was finished in March. I have been eying Punaweb for a while now and decided I should join in as I have lots and lots of questions!

Aloha, Everyone, guess I missed this post until today. Been posting with some of you already, so its probably time to introduce ourselves. We're Dick & Kathy Wilson. We have a lot in Eden Roc we will be building on in Jun 09. Which if anyone asks is exactly 323 days away but who's counting. We both will be retiring for the phone company. I'm a building maintenance specialist and Kathy is a wireless repair specialist. We fell in love with Puna thru our boy who is in construction on BI. So as soon we saw the area and talked with some folks there we knew it was right for us. Ant then I found this forum and have been beside myself with all the info I'm getting. Wife I think is getting jealous, as the moment I get home from work its right to Punaweb to see what new post there are. The gardening advice and building tips have been invaluable. I really just can't rave enough about Punaweb. Mahalo for all the help

Just a quick hello, though I may have posted here a while back. (Man, this forum has grown in the past few years...)
My husband and daughter (almost 2 yr. old now) and brother have been living in Puna for a few years, and loving (almost) every minute of it. I really appreciate this forum - we checked it out when initially moving here, and found a lot of great info, now checked it again and found even more! We love all things gardening, mini-farming, and beach-related. We talk occasionally about how our life has changed - for the better - since we've moved here. A shift in priorities and lifestyle, perhaps, but a big part of it has to do with our environment and the people in our daily lives. So many great people in Puna.
So, anyway, it's nice to "meet" everyone, and I look forward to more Punawebbing in the future.
Aloha,
Kelli

aloha all-
thanks punagirl for the thread !
I have been living here on island since 2002 and love it! before that, Kauai for 7 yrs, and before that Maui.. and New Mexico and California, East Coast before that.
Great place to live! I love the small town feel and all the wonderful people I know here, many concerned people who really care about Puna, its people and making life better for us all.
Looking for a roommate in case anyone knows someone nice, easygoing..
I live near the ocean, great house..
Thanks..

Greetings and Aloha ladies and gentlemen. I am Spartacus! No, that is not true but I am Barabbas oddly enough. This being my first foray into the Punaweb, I must state that I reside in Hilo but let us not quibble on such details. My first year was spent in Kona town and then I moved to the dark side to explore the quiet life with a little lady I grew very fond of. Two years later I am still here and struggling but who isn't in some sort of term-oil. I am seeking new roads to wander down, including employment that is rewarding(on some level), weaving a new mosaic of life consisting of more than standard fabrics and I may even have some items to offer my fellow friends and neighbors as I strip down and simplify myself. More on those points later though. For now my words are of peacful contact to all. Many my benedictions upon you. -Mister B
